Clarity is power

Clarity is power. Clarity in knowing yourself is more power.

Our unconscious actions often speak louder than words, and can be a blind spot. If you analyse your actions, you may find that pleasing others comes is more important than pleasing oneself. For what ever reason- gaining acceptance, living up to an image, or simply thinking the other person’s opinion is more important than your own opinion. This often leads to unspoken frustration- that nagging feeling that something is not right, not complete, not fully done. Over time, it can accumulate and lead to anger and depression. Other people are important, but your needs are too. You are special. You need to allow yourself some space. You could be considerate of others and at the same time you could be just yourself in order to maintain personal balance and sanity.

Just by allowing you to be yourself liberating and empowering. By being honest with yourself, you are achieving congruence in thought and actions and building a strong foundation of your personality and attitude. You could realize or develop your full potential by being yourself. Here are some powerful steps to start becoming the person you are and want to be:

1. Acknowledge and know you are unique and special. Each one of us is unique in this world. You are different from all others. You have a personality and character. Your personality has its positive and negative sides. You would feel comfortable with yourself if you accept yourself and feel safe to be who you are. Accept the fact that you are unique.

2. Know yourself. You would know yourself if you get familiar with yourself. You must know yourself physically, psychologically and socially and in fact you should know yourself in all aspects, in all entireties. Do you know how tall you are, how much you weigh, your color of eyes, hair, etc.? You could look in a mirror and familiarize yourself to know yourself physically. How about your disposition? Are you friendly? Are you a person who likes to be alone? What are your habits? What are your strengths and weakness? You would know yourself only by observing yourself

3. Evaluate yourself. Once you get familiarized with yourself try to evaluate yourself. While evaluating yourself it is good to be open and honest. You could take the help of your close friend or relative to help you analyze and evaluate you. You would be your own critic of how you look, the way you walk, dress, speak, behave, etc. Being critical of yourself would help you improve upon areas where you feel you need to change or get better. In the following areas: social, intellectual, physical appearance, health, emotional. Be honest- that is the key. Accept it if you think you are gawky. There is room either for improvement or beauty in the gawkiness. Or the fact that you are shy and self conscious. Knowing this, accepting it and deciding what you would like to do about this will lead to clarity in defining yourself and what you want to do about it.

4. Respect Yourself. You need to respect yourself first so that you could learn to respect others. If you have some bad qualities and you are aware of it, there is no reason to disrespect yourself or hate yourself. You do not need to condemn yourself of who you are. Learn to understand that no one is perfect. You could on the other hand look at the positive side of yourself and project yourself in positive ways while working on the negative aspects.

5. Love yourself. Realize that you are unique, beautiful and created for love and fulfillment. realize that you were created in love, and will be nurtured in love throughout your existence. No matter what the past was, or what the world may say, the truth is that you are unique, lovable and accepted by God. Just get right with Him and if there are any cobwebs of the past, acknowledge it, correct it, ask for forgiveness and let it go. Let yourself love and live and feel again because of the love you have for yourself, right where you are right now. You don’t have to change to love yourself.

Once you understand your uniqueness, get familiar with yourself, assess and respect yourself you would be able to accept yourself. When you accept yourself you become powerful. Clarity is power. Personal, social, emotional power. The beginning of a journey of self actualization, fulfillment.
